Microsoft Office Integration
Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 has the ability to integrate with Microsoft Office Outlook to take advantage of the following features: Conference Scheduling, Conversation History, Integrated Presence, Microsoft Office OneNote integration, and Real-time Communication.
-
Conference Scheduling.
Now the user can schedule a conference call straight from Microsoft Outlook. A meeting request is created, where the user only needs to click a link in the meeting request to join the conference.
-
Integrated Presence.
Rich Presence unites real-time status information with all the ways you communicate: phone, conferencing, instant messaging, and e-mail. Using the icons found in the Office Communicator client. When you see an icon, you can access a drop-down menu that provides options to different ways to communicate with the user. Presence also integrates with Windows Mobile devices, so real-time status and contact information are available when you travel.
-
Real-time communication.
In many Microsoft Office applications if there's a presence icon, you can initiate a conversation real time, doesn't matter if it's an IM or a voice conversation.
-
Microsoft Office OneNote Integration.
Use Microsoft Office OneNote to track conversation participants or take notes, during a conversation, voice call, IM, etc.
-
Save Conversation History.
Configure Office Communication Server to store a user's conversation history in a Microsoft Office Outlook folder. Each conversation saved will include time and date of the message, conversation subject, conversation body and participant names. This includes instant message conversations, phone calls, and forwarded calls.
When you are not at your PC, and a conversation is initiated, a "missed conversation" notification will appear in your Exchange inbox.
You don't need to do expensive infrastructure and network upgrades, and it all works with software you already own and know, and with features like this, why wouldn't you want to use Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007.
Our hosted OCS deployment is rated to support 25,000 IM and presence endpoints.
